Swinton Bivouac Wedding – Chimayne & Ian
Yorkshire Wedding Photographers – Swinton Bivouac Wedding
Glamping – she said. No, never experienced it. It’s basically camping, but in a glamorous way. Oh I definitely like the sound of that – I said. I like camping. I like basic, muddy camping too. The sound of a similar set up in a clean, rustic and glam way really got my attention though.
No need to explain how excited I was to see the site at The Swinton Bivouac. This Yorkshire wedding reception was held in the woods by the Druid’s Temple in the shade of giant trees with hay bales as seating and simple white flowers and bunting as decorations. Having shot a few weddings already with a humanist service, we were very much looking forward to Hannah’s beautifully choreographed ceremony, that celebrates love between two people with simple messages from friends and family.
It was the first crisp autumn weekend, but the chill didn’t bother any of the parties. The sun stayed with us all day and pretty clouds framed the North Yorkshire countryside later that afternoon giving the private shoot a similar feel to Chimayne & Ian’s engagement shoot earlier this summer in Wales.
While Chimayne was getting glammed up with her Bridesmaids and flower girls, I caught up with Ian and his Groomsmen in the yurts. I just loved the whole site…few yurts here, Papakata there and a cute café perfect for the evening’s shenanigans with the 1920’s swing jazz band, Alligator Gumbo playing on the mezzanine.
The open tent decorated by family and friends with a true mixture of traditional British and Filipino touches were perfect for this Glamping themed wedding. Chimayne’s cousin, Aprille is an Interior Designer, from the Philippines who occasionally styles weddings with her floral designs. Her decorations and bouquets were stunning. Not to mention the most amazing variety of the buffet dinner with the roast pig taking centre of stage. Yes you guessed right, I might like eating healthy, but I cannot resist a full plate of pork crackling!
